Louisa F Pesel Historical Designs for Embroidery: Linen and Cross Stitch

I manged to find a Issue 1 to add to my collection. The one in front is a newer version good for working with.   Several of Pesel's "notebooks" are here brought together in a single volume. It consists of hundreds of embroidery patterns and motifs charted from historical samplers and other articles and annotated to aid the embroiderer. The main chapters are: double-running or backstitch; cross-stitch; canvas embroidery; leaves from an embroidery notebook. Louisa Pesel was a well-known embroiderer and designer who died in 1947. She was the author of several embroidery books, many published by Batsford   

 

This is the inside of the cover and back of the cover. The designs inside are like this. Just pages of wonderful bands and charts.

My husbands family was from Clitheroe before moving to Accrington. The pictures below are from our visit of the town & the Clitheroe Castle before they moved. When we return in July I plan to go back and see it again.

Found this wonderful computer laptray at Costco for under $12. My chart sits on it and has padded pillowy bottom. The padded front ridge holds my pencil and serves as a pin cushion also. A great addition to my sewing "tools".

I added an edging of single crochet even around starting in a corner -sc across-with 3 sc in each corner.Next round:  a shell of 2 dc,2 tc,1 sc, 2 tc, 2 dc in the mid of the 3 sc in the corner. skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, and skip 2 sc-shell in the sc skip 2 sc and shell across.

Birds of a Feather "Mystery Sampler" pt 1 by With Thy Needle & Thread-A Brenda Gervais design of Country Stitches.

 Was so excited to get this today. I love the wonderful colours and fabric.  Our Sampler Guild Sampler Guild of the Rockies is stitching this as a SAL along with the "Soar" design by her also. Suppose to have both done by Sept LOL. I plan on doing the Mystery Sampler at home in the evenings-the Soar at work on my breaks and hopefully I can still get some done on my Loara Standish sampler on the weekends. You an order all her wonderful charts from  Fancimats. A wonderful little shop in Littleton, CO.
