Scrappy Americana quilt part 11

The star section is finished! Sewing the Star strips together was challenging. Matching up 18 seams in 11 columns and trying to keep the Star points visible was a pill. Some of my points didn’t end up with a 1/4 inch allowance so I had to adapt best I could there. On a good note, there isn’t any seam match ups when adding the side borders!! The pattern, kit , fabric requirements and schedule can be found on Kimberly Jolly & the FQS team websight. Also on the Jolly Jabber blog. Scrappy Americana Quilt part 10

This part was easy but took time.
From the Reds there are
68 5.5 inch squares. 4 from each pattern.

From the Whites there are
50 5.5 inch squares, 5 from each pattern.
30 2.5x3.5 in. rectangles. 3 from each pattern.

The Blues consist of
20 3.75x8.75 inch rectangles. 2 from each pattern.
10 3.5x5 inch and 10 3.25x9.25 inch rectangles 1 from each pattern.
40 2x5 inch rectangles. 4 from each pattern. These are sewed onto the stars in columns.

I fussy cut some to get the design in there.
I took the time to try and piece it without getting duplicates beside each other or in the same columns. I made sure the pressed open seams were running horizontally in case I needed to match seams with the neighboring rows. I used my alphaclippies to keep each row in order. Now to sew it all together. Theres a lot of seams and I’m that person where the seams have to match up.

The clip on numbers I got from Kimberly Jolly & the FQS team called
Blue AlphaClippies® Specialty Marking Clips
By It’s Sew Emma #ISE-7020

Scrappy Americana quilt part 9

This part I think too the longest. There’s 50 (of course ) 5 inch stars made with 200 half square triangles which are made up from
200 2 1/2 inch squares and 250 2 inch squares. Theres 5 each of 10 different pattern formations.

Part 8 of my Scrappy American Flag quilt Square in a square Blocks

These are called Square in a square Blocks. I used the foundation paper piecing method. My blocks came out perfect. There are seven red squares and six white squares

Part 7 of the #scrappyamericanflagsal quilt. Mini Flying Geese

is done. This part took the longest so far. I had to make 96 mini flying geese. 48 in 2 colorways of reds and 48 in 2 colorways of whites. Then I had to sew 4 together of each colorway, press open then sew two different white sets together and two different sets of the red together into groups of eight. Matching the seams and points as I go. 😳 I used the paper piecing option.

Scrappy Americana Flag quilt part 6 Broken Dishes.

Part 6 of my #scrappyamericanaflagsal is completed these blocks are called Double Flying Geese. Started with 24 flying geese then sewed into 12 doubles. I highly recommend using the foundation paper. I don’t think it made it quicker but definitely made my blocks accurate. Of all my QALs this one is one of my favorites! Starting my #scrappyamericanaflagsal

Simply Jelly Roll QAL

My Simply Jelly Roll quilt is finished. I omitted the checkerboard border. It's already pretty large so didn't need it. I used a Beautiful Day jelly roll by @corianderquilts and Buttercup and Slate fabric with the white on white. Beautiful Day Heartfelt quilt shams

I decided to make a couple euro shams to go with my Beautiful Day Heartfelt quilt. I used the same pattern as a large heart that was used on the pieced backing. I just made an envelope backi by sewing to offset pieces of fabric to the front.  The second to last picture is the back of the quilt.
