I manged to find a Issue 1 to add to my collection. The one in front is a newer version good for working with. Several of Pesel's "notebooks" are here brought together in a single volume. It consists of hundreds of embroidery patterns and motifs charted from historical samplers and other articles and annotated to aid the embroiderer. The main chapters are: double-running or backstitch; cross-stitch; canvas embroidery; leaves from an embroidery notebook. Louisa Pesel was a well-known embroiderer and designer who died in 1947. She was the author of several embroidery books, many published by BatsfordThis is the inside of the cover and back of the cover. The designs inside are like this. Just pages of wonderful bands and charts. |

Hi Patti,
I just found your beautiful blog! Your, And They Sinned, is really magnificent.
I also have some of Pesels's books and find them to be a wonderful resource. I really like the green floss colors used on the cover of the newer Historical Designs book.
