Loara Standish Band 2

The chart says count down 6 threads but I figured that is where you begin the next stitch below. Not 6 stitches between rows at least not what I could tell from the picture. I put 3 threads between row 1 and 2.

Band Two took me a bit to get use to since its stitched "over 3". If you remember that when you come up at a vertical thread you cross down into a vertical thread and same when coming up at a horizontal thread then down a horizontal. And if stitching upward or downward in a continuous row you will do one in a vertical then the next horizontal etc. Once you get the routine down its pretty simple. The tendrils or backstitches on the chart aren't easy to tell which is what colour so I had to look at the picture. The tendrils coming off the blue crosses are blue and the BS off the tan crosses are tan. Here you can also see a close up of Band 1

Loara Standish Sampler-non-reversible-Band 1

The fabric came in the kit and it 35ct so the finished sampler won't be as small as the original which was stitched over 50 ct.
Band One was pretty easy. Called the Standish stitch.

Irene's Rose

A wonderful member of the Sampler Guild of the Rockies passed away last month and in her memory a rose motif was designed in her honor. I stitched this over 1 on 40 ct Examplar linen and mounted it to the top of a tape measure.

Mary Wigham completed

Finished and framed. All the letters on the right side are my fathers ancestry and the left side my mother's. The bottom has my siblings, children and their fathers. My current husband and mine together at the top. I added MW inside the green wreath as a tribute to Mary. I taped all the info about the sampler on the back. I also changed her name to mine in the center. I am proud of this piece.

Crochet Shawl for sister

Crocheted for my sisters birthday. The yarn is actually soft white-those halogen lights make it look different. I figured she can wear it this spring to work & church.

1815 Margaret Mathews Sampler Cover picture

Here is the cover picture- isn't it just wonderful?

1815 Margaret Mathews Sampler by Sheepish Designs

I decided to take a break from my Mary Wigham sampler and add some stitches to this one I started last year and put on hold to do MW. It is an Adam and  Eve sampler in Sampler and Antique Needlework magazine, Summer 2000. It is a challenging piece since the stitches are not evenly over 2 but spaced plus it is done on 40 ct Sandstone linen using 1 strand of Soie D'alger. I am an avid Adam and Eve fan so this was a must do for me. I will definitely finish it this year.

My nutcracker in it's place.

He fits right in with my other collection. I have an Oilers, The Wizard of Oz group and a couple strangers :)
The stockings are the 3 boys Shepherds Bush stockings. I will probably let them take to their homes when they get married etc but for now they stay nice and safe here.  Mine and Bob's is hanging on the other fireplace.

Blackbird Designs ornament front

Stitched this for our annual Sampler Guild of the Rockies ornament exchange. I waited to post after the exchange so no one there would see it. It is from the JCS magazine 2010 ornament issue. Hard to see the whitework on it but I put SGR 2010 and my initials on it also.

BB Designs back

The fabric is also from Blackbird Designs. Part of the Moda collection I think.

Lisa Steele "Aria" from JCS 2000

This is from a Just Cross Stitch issue Oct 2000. I stitched this one also for my oldest daughter. It is stitched on 32 ct cream Belfast linen. There were two options to stitching it. One with the cutwork the other without. Loving hardanger I went for the cutwork design.

Told in a Garden Freebie from 1998

A Told in the Garden Christmas  Freebie I stitched for my oldest daughter.
